Project Title: An Information Management Infrastructure for Product Family and Planning and Mass Customization

Project Supervisor: Dr. Tim Simpson

Project Description:
Our Objective in this research is to investigate an information management infrastructure to support the planning and development of families of engineered products and systems for mass customization. We are researching three information technology (IT) challenges, including: 1) a generalized information management infrastructure, with particular emphasis on capturing information regarding component sharing and reuse within a family of products; 2) a graphical modeling environment for product family construction and visualization, requirements specification, and customer preference capture; and 3) an agent-based synthesis framework for the configuration of platform concepts and customized variants.
