Contact mechanism is used to alleviate stresses and to allow more deformation. A methodology to design such mechanisms, which takes into account the aerodynamic loads, is being developed. The method is applied to a 1 lb. aircraft and results are compared with a honeycomb structure in terms of structural mass, global strain and maximum stresses. Different material models such as linearly elastic, multi-linear elastic and hyper-elastic are being considered. Project Sponsor: Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) |
